Referrals
If indicated, imaging can be arranged either through your GP or privately through me. My referral pathways are quick and efficient and can give us the answers we need.
X-rays
X-rays are good at seeing bones, joint spaces and alignment. It can also pick up degeneration and can rule out fractures. As the procedure emits radiation, full justification is needed in order to refer you.
Ultrasound Scans
Ultra-sound scans use the jelly on the skin to see through the skin to the structures underneath, they are great for superficial injuries to tendons or ligaments, for example around the shoulder or knee.
Personal Training
If you would like to take things to the next level and strengthen your body with exercise I can recommend you to a personal trainer (PT). This option can also be used as a one-off to show you which exercises can be done safely at home.
MRI Scans
MRI scans are much more in depth, they can show all parts of the body from bones, tendons, ligaments and cartilage to organs and blood vessels. This type of scan is best for assessing a disc bulge, for example, as this would not be seen on an x-ray.
Sports Massage
If your issue is primarily a muscle problem or if your progress is slow, I will refer you to you a sports massage therapist. I will work closely with them to ensure you are receiving the correct treatment.
