New Patient Consultation £70.00
This appointment is for people who have never seen me before or for someone who I have seen in the past if their last appointment was over 2 years ago. If you are unsure if 2 years has lapsed since your last appointment, please call me to check. You will remain fully clothed so it will be beneficial to wear loose fitted clothing, a gown can provided if necessary. This appointment takes between 30-40 minutes.
Consultation
Let's get to the root of the problem and find out what is really causing your pain and problems! Before you attend your first appointment with me, you will receive your confirmation email with a link to the intake form, on here you can fill me in on where the problem is, how long it has been affecting you and various other details. When you then attend your first appointment with me I will clarify all the details and you can explain in your own words what has been going on.
Explanation
I will explain what I have found as I go through the examination and will summarise it all at the end. You are welcome to ask any questions at any point during your visit.
Referrals
If there is something I'm not sure about or I do not deem you suitable for Chiropractic Adjustments I will endeavour to refer you to someone who can help you. This may be your GP or a physio or if imaging is required I can recommend where to go for these, to be paid for privately. I work closely with practitioners who provide X-rays, MRI scans & ultra sound scans in addition to Sports Massage Therapists and Personal Trainers, please feel free to ask me if you would like to be referred for any of these services and we can discuss it at your consultation.
Examination
Once I have all the details I need I will move on to examine you. This starts with a postural assessment and if you have a lower limb issue I will assess your gait. I will assess the range of movement of the painful areas and perform special testing which may create some pain but will help me to figure out what is going on. Next is neurological testing where I will check your reflexes and muscle strength in addition to sensation testing if numbness is reported in the consultation. Lastly I will be palpating the muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints surrounding the painful areas.
First Adjustment
A chiropractic treatment is called an adjustment. If I find areas of your body that need to be re-aligned and I deem it safe to do so, I will do your adjustment straight away. For more details please click on Chiropractic Adjustment.
Advice
Lastly at the end of your appointment I will give you some advice for what to do over the next few days and how often you will need to return for treatments. Most patients will need to attend weekly sessions or twice a week if they are in severe pain in order to make the quickest progress.
